On January 26, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with the President and with the Coordinator of the “Patriarchal Network for Pastoral Health Care”, His Eminence Kyrillos Metropolitan of Rhodes and Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Thrones Stavros Kofinas, respectively, at the Fanar. His All-Holiness received them whole-heartedly and with paternal love and was informed of the “Patriarchal Network’s” progress. More specifically, they discussed:
- The reorganization of the “Patriarchal Network” with the assignment of a new Steering Committee, which will be flanked by distinguished professionals that will serve as special advisors.
- The need to form a Charter that will designate its aim, its goals and the way it is organized.
- The upcoming 6th Patriarchal Conference for pastoral health that will take place in October of 2025.
- The prospect of including medical students and those studying nursing in the “Patriarchal Network” by organizing special events in the local Metropolises of the Throne and the organization of an International Conference.
- The further expansion of the establishment of Fellowships for Medical Professionals and Health Care Workers in the Metropolises of the Throne.
- The process being made in working relations with the World Council of Churches and the European Network for Health Care Chaplaincy.
His All-Holiness expressed his satisfaction regarding these developments and confirmed that he will support every effort towards the grow and expansion of the “Network” in every possible way.
