When the Church speaks and when it remains silent
- Ecum. Patriarch Bartholomew
When the Church speaks, it does so in order to defend man. When it remains silent, it does so for the same reason. It is not possible though for the Church to remain idle in face of the cry of agony of those that are “weary and are carrying heavy burdens” and in the sigh of creation, to remain silent when man,“who has been honored with freedom” (St. John Chrysostom), and his world is threatened.
