With the blessings of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate designated the celebration the Sunday following the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 7th Ecumenical Synod as the Sunday of the Synaxis of all the Holy Doctors. This year, that is the Sunday of the 20th of October.
The establishment of this Feast fully conveys the Mother Church’s interest and concern regarding Health; its spiritual care for every person that is sick and that is suffering. It brings to light the contribution of medical professionals and health care providers. Together with this, it stresses the need for dialogue and cooperation between Medicine and the Church. Mostly, it evangelizes the joyful message of philanthropy, the healing that takes place through the divine grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of the Father and the communion of the Holy Spirit.

We hope that this year, the Feast of the Synaxis of the Holy Doctors will be celebrated with great splendor. We hope that with this celebration, that all local Churches will express the concern that the Mother Church has for health issues, for those suffering illness together with their families. We encourage you on this day to honor all of your doctors and nurses and health care professionals with special recognition.
May the prayers and intercessions of the Holy Doctors relieve every human pain and cure every illness. May they protect and strengthen all doctors and therapists, together will all those who care for the health of body and soul, so that they may continue their worthy work, which is most favorable to God.
