This book does not aspire to fully address the modern lack of a "scientific" handbook for pastoral practice but aims to systematically present the fundamental principles, both theoretical and practical, that constitute pastoral work. It seeks to describe the two dimensions of Pastoral Ministry, both on the spiritual and psychological levels, engaging in scientific dialogue with theories of the psyche. It also aims to highlight the characteristics of "charismatic Pastoral Ministry," which are often confused with pathological personality worship and the expectation of "magical" abilities from individuals. Rather than describing "how" pastors should ideally operate, it outlines the "paths" we must traverse and the "methods" we must be trained in, to establish proper ecclesiological foundations and adopt more effective pastoral practices.
In the course of pastoral guidance, the pastor must be familiar with the ecclesiological terrain of this journey, the markers of the path in the Spirit, and the destination at the salvific harbor. Similarly, the one being shepherded must understand the characteristics of a healthy pastor, fostering a spiritual relationship founded on proper ecclesiological principles.
