Isolation of the sick
One way that a sick person becomes isolated is when he or she is not able to touch anyone and when no one is able to touch him or her. Knowing this, Christ touched the sick that He healed so as to free them from their isolation and to cure their bodies and souls from every ailment. (Mk 6:5, Luke 4:40; 13:13). This is why He told the apostles that "they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well" (Mark 16:18). In like fashion, while praying and placing our hands on the heads of the faithful, we also should find ways to touch the pain-stricken souls of all people.
